    About this opportunity:Could you look after the finances for the Fife Heritage Railway? You don't need a to have an interest in railways (but that would be a bonus), just some basic IT and finance skills. If so, this could be the role for you.

    Fife Heritage Railway has been successfully preserving the railway heritage of Fife for almost 30 years, working hard to achieve this aim. One of the key ways they achieve their aim is by tapping into various sources of funding and applying for grants to fund their various projects.

    As treasurer, your role would involve:

    -Overseeing the finances of the organisation
    -Keeping proper records
    -Maintaining bank accounts and recording transactions
    -Making all authorised payments
    -Producing VAT returns and Gift Aid claims
    -Preparing year end accounts, financial statements and annual budgets
    -Assessing the financial viability of plans and proposals
    -Regularly reporting the financial position at committee meetings

    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - This is a home-based opportunity. When volunteers are required to visit Kirkland Yard in Leven, travel expenses will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

    Experience required:The ideal volunteer will be a friendly and approachable person with some experience of financial administration, knowledge of bookkeeping, ability to use online banking and good financial analysis skills. You will have the ability to communicate clearly, be respectful and non-judgemental, and maintain confidentiality. Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations would be greatly appreciated.

    Travel DetailsYou would have access to an office at the Kirkland site in Leven, but most of the role can be done from home. This flexible role involves using on-line bank accounts and so can be done when and where suits you best. You will be expected to attend monthly committee meetings, some of which take place online, plus the AGM.
